Fam Fridays, Life Might Just Puke on Your Plan

Don’t you just hate it when a good plan gets ruined? We spend time laying out what’s going to happen, what we’re going to wear, and sometimes a toddler throws up. End of plan. New plan immediately begins having to be formed. In my case, there are four possible children that could, and usually do, change plans.

My wife and I rarely plan date nights, but when we do they are frequently upstaged by having to be full on good parents. (Insert Stephanie Tanner saying ‘How Rude’ here) Truthfully, we love being parents but an occasional night where all four kids are healthy would be a welcomed surprise. Ever since we got together date nights have been snake bitten. For the record, I am not praying for it to happen but I’m not always mad at it either.

In the most recent case, we have a toddler who showed no signs of sickness. She was healthy as an ox yesterday, but once we are in take the kids to grandma’s house mode…..here comes the stomach bug. It’s not my daughter’s fault. If the choice was hers, she’d be going still.

Unfortunately for our date night, my wife and I decided to be adults and sacrifice our night away from the kids. I’m sure Disney is going to have a movie we’re way more into than my daughter anyway. Sick children are also far sweeter and will definitely snuggle.

We’ll still have fun, but a full date will not be possible. Luckily, my antisocial nature gets satisfied in this scenario, so there’s that at least.  Wish me luck on a successful adjusted date night plan!
